Stay up to date on the Berryville market
Berryville is the county seat of Clarke County, Virginia. It was founded where Charlestown Road and the Winchester Turnpike intersected, and was chartered in 1798. It is 60 miles west of Washington, D.C. where the current VA Route 7 and U.S. Route 340 intersect. The town is a center of residential, industrial, commercial and institutional activities in Clarke County. This small community is dedicated to preserving the historic Berryville downtown and maintaining the beauty of the surrounding countryside. It has approximately 4,300 people currently living there.
Berryville's beautiful countryside provides some great outdoor experiences. Watermelon Park Campground provides places for camping, as well as kayaking, canoeing and tubing along the Shenandoah River. The Veramar Vineyard was founded in 2000 and is one of the most successful wineries in the northern part of Shenandoah Valley. Located in the rolling hills close to the Shenandoah River, the 28 acres of vineyards has a great view of the mountains. With a rustic tasting room that is also quite elegant, as well as a beautiful terrace, the vineyard is available for visitors and as the setting for weddings or private parties. The rural area of Berryville also offers Nalls Farm Market. A large barn-inspired building is surrounded by flowers, and inside you’ll find canned goods, honey, and jams that are locally produced. There is also a bakery that offers pies and cookies. The market offers produce that is local as well as some that are brought in from outside of the area. Another area of interest, if you like to spend quality silent time, is the Holy Cross Abbey which provides a place to meditate, read and relax. Evening meals are silent except for a reading by one of the monks.
Berryville real estate offers a variety of home styles. You’ll find ranch style homes, cottages, antebellum style homes, cape cod styles, Foursquare styles, and a variety of modern contemporary homes. Berryville homes have beautiful lawns, mature trees and there is also acreage available for construction. Surrounded by farms and hills, this small town has a quaint, historic feel to it, and is less than 20 minutes from towns that offer shopping and dining. A family-friendly, community-oriented town with abundant beauty and history, Berryville is a must consider destination for homebuyers searching in the Shenandoah Valley area.
