Berryville is the county seat of Clarke County, Virginia. It was founded where Charlestown Road and the Winchester Turnpike intersected, and was chartered in 1798. It is 60 miles west of Washington, D.C. where the current VA Route 7 and U.S. Route 340 intersect.
